The region of Mantiqueira de Minas is located on the Minas Gerais side of Serra da Mantiqueira, in the southern part of Minas Gerais. With a secular tradition of producing high-quality coffee, Mantiqueira de Minas is considered one of the most awarded regions in Brazil nowadays. In 2011, it was recognized as a Geographical Indication (IG) in the modality Indication of Origin (PGI) for its tradition and a worldwide reputation for producing specialty coffees with a highly differentiated sensory profile.

Only "Coffea Arabica" species receive the Seal of Origin and Quality. The most common ones: Bourbon, Acaiá, Catuaí, Icatu, Novo Mundo, Catucaí.

Aprocam (Mantiqueira de Minas Coffee Producers Association) is the entity that represents, controls and promotes Mantiqueira de Minas – PGI through the cooperatives and the producers' unions, which constitute the institution. It's an entity that supports the sustainable development of the Mantiqueira de Minas coffee sector, seeking continuous excellence in producing highly differentiated coffees.

Only coffees produced in the demarcated area following the specific production rules defined by the Regulatory Council of our region are the ones that can be certified and receive the denomination Mantiqueira de Minas – IP. The Origin and Quality Seal - Mantiqueira de Minas – PGI recognizes what has already been valued: a unique and inherent product to the territory and producers in our region.
